2nd wEeK oF sKoOl.. 2nd CIP lecture.. 2nd CIP tutorial.. 2dae's lecture was bout the information research skills. The lecture was held by the librarian representative. She talked bout the OPAC system in our skool's library. She taught us how to use it. Talked about the use of Boolean operators.. The "AND", "OR" and "NOT" operators and she talked bout the use of Wildcards " * ", "?" and "$" and the use of " ( ) " and others. She covered on other things like the various databases and search engines. Databases like Factiva where we can find newspaper articles and company financial information, EBSCOHost where we can find magazine articles, Emerald where we can find management articles, Global Market Information Database where we can find marketing data and analysis, Gale Group Database where we can find IT magazine articles, Safari Tech Books Online where we can find IT ebooks articles, E.I.U where we can find informations on Economics and country reports and Bloomberg where we can find financial news and data, stocks and currency indices. Some examples of search engines are Google, Altavista, Yahoo, Vivismo, alltheweb and Dogpile. Last but not least, we also learnt how to evaluate those informations on their accuracy, relevance and objectivity. Some of the things are alien to mi as i'm not a computer person. Glad dat i had a chance to learn more bout them.
Tutorial time.. As usual, we did the Microsoft Powerpoint Exercise 2. After that, my group and i discussed our PBL1. We discussed about what has to be done and see if there's anithin dat we are not sure of and we clarified with our tutor. hmmm.. dat's about it for 2dae. =D
